This is the first square in a series for my Winter White Samplerghan. I've named it "Sixteen Snowballs". Enjoy!
Materials:
1/2 oz white worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver)
Size H crochet hook
Size: 5" square
Rnd 1: Ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, sl st in ring, (ch 3, work 4 dc in ch 4 sp, remove hk from working yarn, insert in top of beg ch 3 then into working loop of yarn again and pull through ch (beg popcorn made)), ch 4, work (5 dc in ring, remove hk from working yarn, insert hk in top of 1st dc of last 5 dc worked, pick up yarn again and pull through top of 1st dc (
popcorn formed)), ch 4, work popcorn in ch 4 sp (twice), ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch just after 1st popcorn (4 popcorns, 4 ch 4 sp).
Rnd 2: Sl st in 1st ch 4 sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same ch 4 sp, * ch 2, work popcorn in top of next popcorn, ch 2, 5 dc in next ch 4 sp, rep from * around ending w popcorn, ch 2, join w sl st in top of beg ch 3 (20 dc, 4 popcorns, 8 ch 2 sp).
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, * 2 dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 2, popcorn in top of next popcorn, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch 2 sp, dc in each of next 5 dc, rep from * around, ending w 2 dc in last ch 2 sp, join as before (36 dc, 4 popcorn, 8 ch 2 sp).
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in each of next 6 dc, * 2 dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 2, popcorn in top of next popcorn, ch 2, 2 dc in next ch 2 sp, dc in next 9 dc, rep from * around, ending w dc in each of last 2 dc, join as before, fo (52 dc, 4 popcorn, 8 ch 2 sp).
Weave in ends.
